The Moser Klangwerkstatt was founded in May 2003. I play the double bass myself and have for a long time intensively studied the sound behaviour of stringed instruments and the ways in which tone is affected by different playing conditions. What conditions need to be fulfilled for a stringed instrument to immediately respond with a clear, powerful tone at all times?
In 1999, after much thought and research, including an extensive study of the relevant literature (André Roussel's "Basic Principles of Violin-Making", Eduard Melkus' "The Violin", Hans Rödig's "A New Look at Violin-Making" etc.), I began conducting practical experiments and to building prototypes which could guarantee a consistent tone under any playing conditions. My patent invention, the Moser Patent Bridge Mechanism - MPM - is the impressive final result, which is now being successfully marketed all over Europe. The value of this high-quality product in producing a lasting improvement in tone has been confirmed by technical test reports. However, still more decisive is the enthusiasm of the many well-known professional musicians among my customers, who really value this quality in their daily work with their instrument.
MPM is the first internationally successful product from the Klangwerkstatt, which is committed to making extensive improvements in the tone of stringed instruments, especially the Double Bass and the Cello.
The success of MPM is largely due to the far-sighted trust of my customers, the support of Horst Grünert (an internationally active instrument-maker from Penzberg), my own stubborn persistence and a passion for developing solutions to complex problems.
